HOW TO DELETE INFORMATION FROM DEPOSITIT

If you still have your computer with Depositit installed on it and wish to delete a definition - follow the instructions here.

If you have installed Depositit on a new machine and wish to delete a definition that is from your old system - follow the instructions here.

Deleting from your existing computer


  1. Open the Depositit software by double clicking the Padlock icon on your desktop.
  2. Click on the definition that you wish to delete so it is highlighted.
  3. Go up to the taskbar and click on the 'Delete' icon.
  4. A box will appear asking if you wish to delete the definition JUST from the software or also from our servers as well.
  5. Select as applicable and the definition will be deleted for you

Notes:

For security, when you request a definition is deleted from our servers you will be prompted for your password. If you have forgotten your password click here.

You can only delete one definition at a time.

Deleting a definition from the software is instant, HOWEVER deleting a definition from our servers that contains a large amount of information may take up to 20 minutes. Please be patient and let the system run until it has finished deleting your information.

Deleting the definition only from our software will leave your files archived on our servers, safe for restore at any time.

IMPORTANT: Deleting information from our servers will reduce the storage on your account, however please be aware that once you have deleted information from our servers it will be completely removed and no longer available for restore. Please consider carefully before deleting any information. This action cannot be undone.


If you have installed depositit onto a new machine and wish to delete old definitions from your account


  1. Open the Depositit software.
  2. Click on the 'Restore' tab.
  3. Enter your password.
  4. Left click on the name of the backup definition you wish to delete so it is highlighted.
  5. Once highlighted in blue, click on 'FILE' (top left menu item) and select 'Delete'.
  6. Enter your password to confirm the deletion of your selected data from Depositit.
  7. Please wait whilst your data is deleted from our servers (you will see confirmation of this).

Notes:

If the old machine is still live and in use and still has Depositit installed on it, you must make sure that you delete the definitions from the 'Backup Manager' area otherwise it will backup all over again when it's next scheduled to run. To do this, open the Depositit software > highlight the definition > go up and click 'delete' on the taskbar.
