Depositit V's Manual Processes

Business Continuity is critical for every company, and backing up / restoring your computer files is one of the most essential elements of any plan.

You have three choices:

  1. Don't back up at all!
  2. Back up manually using traditional methods
  3. Back up using Depositit's automated online service

Option 1 does not make any sense.

Option 2 is a manual process and as such involves time and effort; as a consequence it may often be neglected!

Someone has to remember to carry out the backup, check that it did so successfully and then store the media safely off-site.

These backup devices can give a false sense of security, as the media they use are prone to wear and tear, so even following the necessary procedures does not guarantee that your files will be retrievable when the critical time comes to restore them.

Option 3 takes just 15 minutes to set up and then backs up your data automatically every single day over a secure internet connection, stores 3 separate copies in 3 independent maximum security off-site facilities and then sends you an e-mail to confirm the backup.

All data is encrypted to 448-bit level (3 times higher than most Internet Banks), ensuring complete privacy.

You just select the files you wish to back up, set it and forget it.

Single PC's, laptops and servers can all be backed up using this method, and when required your files will be instantly retrieved with a few clicks of your mouse.

There is nothing more to remember, no hardware or media to buy and maintain and no uncertainty.

Costs:

Option 1 costs you nothing and gives you nothing in return!

Option 2 costs from £200 a year (including time spent backing up, hardware & media). Additional expense may be required for engineers to help set it up or when the device fails*!

Option 3 costs on average £150 + vat a year**.

It's your choice.

* External Backup Devices may need replacing or upgrading every 3 years. A minimum of 7 disks or tapes are required (one for each day) and each tape/disk should be replaced every 3 months. So a minimum of 28 disks/tapes will be required each year.

** Online storage costs depend on how much data is selected for backup.

Testimonials

"Last year my hard drive got completely erased and I invested in several backup measures as a result... after about a year, the zip drive stopped working and I had the choice of getting another zip drive or investing in an online backup method..."
